Lest We Be Forgotten:
Gay Victims of the Holocaust
On November 3, 2003, Barrett Brick and Craig Howell presented a review of the campaign to ensure that the US Holocaust Memorial Museum remember the gay victims of the holocaust. The efforts they describe and the Holocaust museum's subsequent work in this field provide the foundation for the recent exhibit Nazi Persecution of Homosexuals at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum. The campaign to include gay victims in the memorial encountered strong resistance in 1993 but due to the efforts of Howell, Brick, and others, gay victims are today remembered in the history of the holocaust.
In December 2003, it was announced that Germany will build a memorial to gay victims of the holocaust.
